Mt Buangor State Park Feb 2012

February 2, 2012

Mount Buangor State Park is situated a few kilometres north of the Western Highway between Ararat and Ballarat. Its reaches is 965m above sea level and Mount Cole State Forest abuts it to the east (which contains the source for the Wimmera River). There are also several campgrounds along Ferntree Waterfalls Rd (as well as several in Mount Cole State Forest).

I stayed there for the day studying the resident odonata. After having recently observed Austroaschna ingrid in the Grampians there was a possibility that the were also at Mt Buangor but as it turned out I only found A. multipunctata, which is common in the forests of eastern Victoria.
